It has been disclosed that 367,811 2022 BECE Candidates have automatically been placed in one of their Senior High School choices.
The Ghana Education Service has provided the statistics for the 2022 BECE Graduates’ placement ahead of the public release of placement.

It has been suggested that the delay in the release of school placements for qualified SHS students is due to ongoing investigations into the scandal of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
Deadline for 2022 BECE SHS Placement
The Ghana Education Service setting a deadline of February 20, for all new students to start school.
The placement for BECE graduates who have qualified for Senior High School is yet to be released.
Giving the reason for the delay, the Ghana Education Service has assured us that the placement will be out before 20th February 2023
Total Number of 2022 BECE Graduates Qualified for Placements
Out of the total number of 571,892 registered candidates, 555,353 candidates qualified to be placed.
Number of 2022 BECE Graduates Automatically Placed
A total of 367,811 candidates have automatically been placed in one of their choices.
Number of BECE 2022 Graduates to do Self-Placement
According to the CSSPS, over 180k students will have to do self-placement as 360k plus students have been placed successfully.
This means a total of 187,542 qualified candidates will have to do SELF-PLACEMENT to select from available schools since they could not be matched in any of their Choices.
Why Some BECE Graduates Failed to Match their Choices
The CSSPS policy guideline stated that candidates who obtained an aggregate 9 in English Language or Mathematics which are the basic required subjects to qualify for placement, such candidate may not be placed by CSSPS.
367,811 2022 BECE candidates have automatically been placed because they have met the required grades to be placed from any of their choices from one to six.
