In the academic year 2020/2021, there was a massive application for admission into colleges of education, and a large number of applicants were admitted into the 46 public colleges of education. This has gone a long way to increase the number of student teachers.
Colleges of education though already are facing the issue of infrastructure which includes lecture halls and hostel facilities. With this, it has forced PRINCOF and other bodies in charge of colleges of education and its affairs to draft a calendar that sees teacher trainees come to school in phases.
That was how the tracking system in colleges of education took effect in our colleges of education starting in the last two academic years. For two academic years, the issue of limited infrastructure was not solved and another large number of applicants were admitted.
