However, this phase of the licensure examination has seen a massive failure and there is no any pass percentage of 40 from any of the participating institutions.

Mass Failure in Licensure Examination – Shocking Results

It is very sad to see that graduates from colleges of education are also out of their total number of 1166 candidates, about 87% of the candidates representing 1010 people have failed the licensure examination.

The highest pass percentage by institution per the statistic released is 37% from 38 registered candidates. This is very bad and maybe must be looked at.

Below, we will tabulate the statistics of the first phase of the 2023 GTLE results.

Questions that Demand Answers

These are some of the questions we should ask ourselves:

  • What is the cause of the mass failure?
  • Are the questions “above” candidates level? (maybe out the content taught)
  • What are some of the ways to help reduce this high rate of failure?
  • What’s the fate of teacher trainees in training our children looking at their performance?
  • Does it mean that teacher trainees are not well equipped to be in the teaching profession?
  • Is there the need to reform the teacher training education regarding how they are trained?
