All prospective applicants who successfully gain admission into colleges of education and begin their studies are entitled to allowance. Find below, the teacher trainees’ allowance requirements.
Every month teacher trainees are paid an allowance of GH¢200 when feeding components of GH¢200 are taken from the monies released by the government.
The allowance is for only teacher trainees who attend any of the 46 public colleges of education. Before you receive the allowance, you must meet some requirements.
Teacher Trainees’ Allowance Requirements
Teacher trainees must have the following before they can be able to receive their allowance from SLTF.
SLTF is the body that does the disbursement of funds to the various accounts of students when they receive money from the government.
- SSNIT Number
- E-Zwich Card
- Phone Number
- Trainee’s Details
SSNIT Number
Teacher trainees are required to visit any branch of SSNIT near them to register for the SSNIT number. The number will be required during the registration.
Documents Needed for SSNIT Registration as a Student
- Official admission letter
- Any Identification Document (NHIS not recommended)
- Personal Details (Full name, email address, phone number, and others).
NOTE: Sometimes either the spelling of your name or date of birth is wrongly printed on the NHIS Card. It won’t go along with your Ghana Card
E-Zwich Card
This particular card is what you will use for all transactions. Teacher trainees will use this to load and withdraw funds.
This card can be obtained at various banks in the country. GCB, Fidelity, UBA, and many other banks offer the E-Zwich service.
Documents Needed for E-Zwich Card Registration
- Any Identification Document (NHIS not recommended)
- Personal Details (Full name, email address, phone number, and others).

Phone Number and Trainees Details
This is what teacher trainees must take note of and give the maximum attention to.
When there is a mistake in your name, phone number, or any personal details which causes a mismatch of any information you won’t get your allowance.
Students must ensure that all information they provide is accurate and matches when comparing them.
Teacher trainees will receive an SMS alert when SLTF disburse the money to their various accounts.
