Two More Papers Added To Licensure Examination

The latest reforms on the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination from NTC indicate that you must pass licensure exams before NSS and also, two more papers added to licensure examination. We have the new changes made to the licensure examination. Will this affect the Quality of the Licensure Exam?

Education reform comprises any planned changes in the way a school or school system functions, from teaching methodologies to administrative processes.

The purpose of educational reforms is to transform school structures with the aim of raising the quality of education in a country. Educational reforms deserve a holistic examination of their reasons, objectives, application, and results generated, by those within the school systems where they are implemented.

Further reforms to be implemented is that the examination will be written online at the various centers. And also, there might be three papers to write.

The management of the National Teaching Council has announced new reforms to Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination. The reforms are intended to improve the overall performance of the students in licensure examinations.

Will This Affect the Quality of Licensure Exam?

Here are the latest NTC Reforms on Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination

  • Reforms in the Ghana Teacher Licensure Exams: It will be a Subject Based-Test ie.
    • Related Pedagogy
    • General Paper (ie, a combination of Numeracy and Literacy)
    • Subject Based
  • It will be written online but in your various centers with a supervisor.
  • These reforms will start in March
  • Passing licensure exams is now a requirement to do your national service
  • They are considering national service to be 2 years instead of the initial 1 year.
  • The national service allowance is still not increased. However, there are considerations for increasing it.

Two More Papers Added To Licensure Examination

The three papers, Numeracy, Literacy, and Essential Skills will be termed General Papers.

Other papers will be written and are termed as the

  • Related Pedagogy
  • Teaching Subject-Based papers

Pedagogy also examines the styles, feedback, assessments, and different methods that are employed in teaching.

The Subject-Based paper aims to test the level of proficiency of teachers in their areas of specialization.

These changes will take effect in the next coming licensure examination in March 2023. This aims to give teachers flexibility.
